How our sizes run, how to look after each cloth, and how the workshop keeps your pieces going for ten years.

Body measurements in centimetres. Between two sizes? Take the larger in outerwear and the smaller in knitwear, or ask us at a fitting.

Look afterthe cloth
Cashmere and knitwear
Hand wash cold with a wool soap, roll in a towel and dry flat. Fold, never hang. Small pills are normal at first and lift off with a comb.
Cotton and denim
Wash at 30 °C inside out, line dry, iron while damp. Wash rigid denim rarely and air it instead.
Leather
Wipe with a dry cloth, feed with a neutral balm twice a year and store stuffed in its dust bag. Shoes need cedar trees and a day's rest.
Silk
Dry clean or hand wash cold, without wringing. Steam on low from inside. Store away from direct light.
Wool and flannel
Brush after wearing, rest a day between wears and hang on a wide hanger. Dry clean once a season at most; steam removes most creases.

For ten years from the day you buy it, any Velane piece can come back to our Lisbon workshop. Seams, buttons, linings and hems are free; wear and tear is mended at cost, priced before we start.

Are alterations included?
Hemming trousers and sleeves is included on every piece. Larger alterations are priced at your fitting before we start.
Can I buy online?
Our pieces are sold in the boutiques, where they can be fitted and finished to you. You can reserve any piece here to try on, and we hold it for three days in your sizes.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, in any amount, in the boutiques. They are valid for two years and can also pay for repairs and made-to-measure.
How does a reservation work?
Choose the piece, your size and a boutique. We confirm by email within a few hours and keep it aside for three days. There is no charge and no obligation to buy.
Can I return a piece?
Unworn pieces can be returned to any boutique within 30 days with the receipt, except pieces altered or made to your measurements.
Do you ship?
Pieces bought in a boutique can be delivered across the EU, the UK and Switzerland, usually within three working days.
How do your sizes run?
True to size unless the piece says otherwise. Tailoring follows Italian sizes; knitwear and outerwear run from XS to XL. The size guide below has the measurements.
