Eight looks, one cloth

Quiet Weight is built around a double-faced wool from Biella, heavy enough to stand on its own and soft enough to fold.

(02)

Made to be altered

Every trouser is hemmed to you while you wait. Every coat can come back to the workshop for ten years.

(Made slowly)

Three handson every piece

Nothing at Velane is made in a hurry. A coat passes through three pairs of hands and about eleven hours of work before it reaches a rail.

01

The cloth

Chosen at the mill, bolt by bolt. We buy small runs of cloth woven for us in Biella, Como, Guimarães and Covilhã, and we know the weaver by name.

02

The cut

Every pattern is drawn and cut by hand on an oak table in Lisbon, one layer at a time, so stripes meet and the grain runs true.

The finish

Hems, buttonholes and the open edges of our double-faced coats are closed by needle. It is slow, invisible, and it is why the pieces last.
